Black Engobe

Engobe is a suspension of liquid clay with pigments to be applied to the surface of a piece before firing to give it color, texture or improve its finish. It is used on the base clay, allowing for a more uniform finish or with specific effects.

It can be applied with a brush, sponge, dip or airbrush and, depending on the composition and firing temperature, matte, satin or glassy finishes. It can also be used under or over a glaze to achieve different decorative effects.

Temperature: 980º-1030º

Optimal temperature: 1010º
